Flash the firmware
The web installer flashes the firmware straight from the browser onto the board. After that, settings and updates run over Wi-Fi.

Which board you need and how to print a case is explained on the page Hardware and case. Note: WetterCube is a software project, you do the building yourself.
In development: Fusion and Next are still in development (alpha). Errors can occur with the current versions.
WetterCube Fusion: Waveshare boards only. The software is only reliably supported on exactly these boards: the Waveshare ESP32-P4-WIFI6-Touch-LCD-7B and, as long as the P4 board is not yet supported, the Waveshare ESP32-S3-Touch-LCD-7B. Combined boards with a display often differ from vendor to vendor in display, touch or connectors.
WetterCube Next: only the described CYD. The software is meant for the ESP32 CYD ESP32-2432S028 (2.8", 320×240, ST7789). CYD boards differ depending on the vendor, for example in the display controller, the colours or the orientation.
Other boards are not supported and can cause problems. So buy exactly the named boards. As soon as more boards are available, board-specific versions are to be offered in the long term; there is no fixed date yet.

How it works
- Connect the board to the computer with a USB cable (a data cable, not a charge-only cable). With the Fusion use the USB port labelled UART (“USB TO UART”).
- Open the web installer in Chrome or Edge and click the install button. Firefox and Safari do not support the USB connection in the browser.
- Choose the device from the list and install. Attention: the installation erases the flash memory, including saved Wi-Fi data and settings.
- After the start connect to the setup Wi-Fi of the device (Fusion: WetterCube-Fusion-Setup, Next: WetterCube-Next-Setup), enter your Wi-Fi and save.
- More settings in the browser at wettercube-fusion.local or wettercube-next.local.
